Chapter 1 part 1 The Frisbee and the Pond

"I got it!"

Jessica Andrews loved playing at the park. Her mommy and daddy brought her here every once in a while. She was a precocious seven year old girl, who made friends easily. She had already found some kids to play frisbee with her. They weren't as good as her, but she didn't care. Jessica could play frisbee all day long.

Dennis, the boy she had just met, was just a couple years younger than her and had thrown the frisbee over her head and almost into the pond. She hoped it hadn't gone in. No, there it was by the edge of the water.

She sighed in relief. She made a mental note to trade sides with Dennis. He would do better to throw it with the water at his back. She checked for snakes then bent down to pick it up.

As she stood up, she caught the sight of something odd in the mud of the shallows only a few feet away. She squinted. It was red, and there were two objects, two orbs, they looked like they were glowing just below the surface. They looked almost like.....(the orbs narrowed)...eyes!

Suddenly a giant hand burst out of the water made completely out of mud. Jessica tried to scream, but before she released her terrified bellow, it clamped down on her face. The frisbee fell from her limp grasp.
